Patience and Attitude

Good morning world from breezy Great Falls Montana. I should be working right now, unloading a piece of equipment and installing it. But, it just seems the powers that be are creating challenges here that must be faced and overcome.

Today is a lesson in patience and attitude. It’s Sunday, flew in a Saturday and covering for others who have other commitments to be at this week for the company. I was scheduled to be elsewhere this week, but rolling with change is one of my values with the job.

In today’s world, flexibility in both mind and spirit help us control stress, work attitude and physical health. Letting go of what should be and focusing on what is and will be is an essential survival skill. I liken myself to a duck in water. No matter how much gets poured on it, it rolls right off and the duck is protected from the elements. That’s how I want to live and work.

Stuff happens to all of us. How do you handle change and disappointment? Forgive and move on. I would say to forgive and forget, but we never forget. But forgiving is the key to living with change and disappointment.

Remembering helps us avoid the same path that led us to the disappointment and sometimes the change; but change is always occurring on the job. Remembering can help us remind the job how to avoid previous issues and mistakes. So I think it all points back to the same mentality.

This morning we had yet another delay with the delivery, so I decided to go get a cup of coffee and relax or do an expense report. The little place by my hotel was open so I stopped. Much to my delight, this place is a bakery. The massive cinnamon rolls were calling my name; and, despite already having breakfast I succumbed to the calling. No regrets here. Lol

For in my initial disappointment of a delay, I found joy in the wait.

So my advice to you is to find your joy in the wait or change and hold on to it.

May your coffee be hot and rolls be warm and gooey.
