Soup or Salad?

“Talk to me about how your week is going, how you feel about clog dancing, or maybe tell me about a time when you were faced with a change you weren’t quite so sure about but delighted you in the end.” Rommy

Soup or salad?

My norm is salad. But hey, I can face change. I can do soup.

“What kind?”

What? Dang. Now it just got scary. “Chicken noodle or loaded potato?” Hahaha this doesn’t sound much like the change Rommy was talking about in the first “Blogging Around with Rommy”, but I like a good challenge; or at least a good excuse to have fun.

Soup. It can be soul-warming and a pure delight when seasoned well and just done right however, I have had soup I’ve spit out.

It’s cold here in Chicago this evening, so when asked the question I immediately knew I wanted soup instead of salad. The warmth it gave made me feel like I was next to a nice fire in a comfy chair. It was that good. Or, I was that cold and hungry. I could have eaten a monster bowl of this stuff.

I am so very thankful that I can have this soup. So many people face the challenge every day of “Will I eat today?” I could expound on my opinions on this, but let’s leave it here.

This week has been good heading into mid week. I’ve helped a customer become more efficient with my company’s equipment and hope to repeat the process in the second half over in Connecticut. I haven’t had much time to explore, but that’s also a byproduct of the time of year. Longer daylight is coming though and I am looking forward to that.

This job makes me happy. It too was a change that occurred after an unforeseen separation from my old company that I had been with for 10.5 years. At fifty, I was truly worried about my options. The powers that be, however, had the plan in hand. I happened to see the owner of this company at a trade show soon after my departure, and he offered me a job that day. I have not looked back since then and am so very grateful for the end result of this change in my life.

So what’s the point? Try the soup. You just might be delighted.

This tidbit is part of the weekly challenge.

  1. No, I did not start drooling at the thought of loaded potato soup. Why would you ever think that? I’m sure those tongue marks on my screen are the result of very creative condensation *cough*.

How wonderful it is to hear that you were able to find work that makes you happy, when you thought the finding would be more than a bit challenging.

  2. I could use a hot bowl of soup today in Philly. It is nasty cold out. Only my crazy corgi is happy with this.

It probably was pretty scary in that in-between time before the new opportunity came you way, but thank goodness it did, and even better that it ended up being something you liked doing.

I shudder to think about how awful the soup you spit out must have been (LOL, I really am craving soup today and I’d take anything as long as it wasn’t cold), but sometimes we have to have a little bit of awful to appreciate the truly tasty. Like roasted butternut squash soup… yum! Thank you for playing along!
