Creatively Thrilling

Well it’s week 2 of Blogging Around With Rommy This week’s topic is about something that thrills me creatively.

There are so many things I have done that I loved and was thrilled with: wood working, jewelry, writing, gardening, and photography to name the main ones.

However, I truly enjoy capturing a photo and writing words to accompany it. The poems with images posted on this blog are a few examples. Many more can be found on my Instagram page @the_traveling_poet.

Some collaborations are thought out ahead of time. Other times it’s the words that inspire finding the photo and then photos inspire words. I am not an artist by traditional thought, but when I capture an image with my camera and it is “that moment” I am thrilled and proud. We all take photos. But think back through your past photos. Which one made you say “wow”? That’s the moment I’m talking about. The smile someone thought no one saw. The look. You know what I’m talking about now.

And then the words are colors and images painted in the mind. I love when I read something and vivid images begin to form. I doubt they are the images the writer had, but that’s the point. I want my words to be yours. Your images to match my words pleases both you and me.

That in a nutshell is what thrills me creatively. Giving you imagery with camera and words.

  1. I take some decent pictures, but yes every now and then I grab a really good one (LOL, and I haven’t a clue how it happened) and it feels great to grab that perfect moment. I love the word and image combinations you brought together here. The second one is especially tender.

  2. Pictures love having words written about them. I am convinced of that. Or, maybe, I just really love giving each photo a tale. Same as you (and Khaya, who’s also grooving with Rommy). I think that it’s wonderful that, in your case, art inspires (and thrills) more art.
