Traveling for work can be tiresome and lonely, but finding friends along the way that can give you suggestions of places to visit and food to eat is essential.
An outdoorsman, I hate to surrender to the elements and stay boxed in a hotel room. So, when I knew I was headed to Wisconsin and would stay the weekend, I packed my bag a little heavier and came willing and smiling.
I’m in Green Bay this weekend and the weather actually warmed up. It was in the high 20’s yesterday and perfect. My friend Carole gave me a few suggestions for hikes and scenic places in the area.
I only made it to one yesterday as I had decided to sleep in and enjoy a leisurely morning. But the one did not disappoint.
Here are a few photos and a poem to accompany from Fonferek’s Glen, a county park.

Behind the Falls
Behind the falls
Time seems stopped
The water frozen
As it had dropped
But there’s a trickle
Alive and well
Sending hope
Breaking the spell
Your love’s the river
Solid ice
You keep it cold
You paid the price
Let me be
Your warming spring
Let it flow
Let it ring
Just a trickle
Can start the flow
And soon your love
Again will grow
